This Paris food and nightlife guide is organized arrondissement by arrondissement, covering everything from cheap eats and iconic pastries, to cozy cafés, world-class restaurants, bustling brunch spots, and nightlife with cocktails that’ll blow your mind. Whether you’re hunting for your next sweet treat or a classic French meal, consider this your ultimate roadmap to eating, drinking, and living like a Paris local. After all, all of these suggestions came from my friend, a true Parisian who has been living there for over 10 years now, so you know you’re getting the real tea!

1st – Le Louvre

Central and easy to base yourself. While not as food-packed as the nearby 2nd or 3rd, there are still plenty of solid cafés and a few standout spots worth seeking out.

One of Paris’ best neighbourhoods for eating. Packed with trendy bistros, brunch spots, and casual dining, it’s a top choice if food is a priority. Because of this, I have a long list of great spots below!

4th – Le Marais (South)

The 4th is more about wandering than dining. It’s packed with shops, museums, and residential streets, so it doesn’t have as many standout restaurants as nearby areas like the 3rd. You can still find a great coffee and pastry here, and some of Paris’ best food spots just a short walk away. My friend only included a few cafés on her list, and I’m keeping it that way rather than adding places just for the sake of it. I want this guide to stay true to her Parisian recommendations only!

More about history and student vibes than dining. Great for casual bites and wandering, with bigger food scenes nearby.

7th – Le Septiem/Eiffel Tower

Famous for landmarks, not dining. Watch out for tourist trap restaurants here (average, overpriced food). My friend listed only a few spots for this arrondissement.

Food lovers will find plenty of great spots in the 9th. Cafés, casual bites, and mid-range restaurants line its lively streets, with hidden gems around every corner. Less touristy than the centre, it’s perfect for experiencing Paris’ restaurants like a local.

12th, 13th & 14th – Bercy & Vincennes, Place d’Italie / Chinatown, Montparnasse

The 12th, 13th, and 14th arrondissements are more about everyday Parisian life than destination dining. These areas are largely residential, with universities, parks, and local routines shaping the vibe rather than buzzy restaurant scenes. To keep this guide true to a my Parisian friend’s perspective, I’ve left them off the food list instead of adding spots that aren’t genuine local go-tos. However, I bet there are some amazing Chinese food spots in the 13th!

15th – Vaugirard

The 15th is a quiet, residential neighbourhood that feels very local and low-key. It’s not a hotspot for destination dining, but you’ll find plenty of neighbourhood cafés, bakeries, and simple restaurants catering to locals who actually live here rather than visitors.

16th – Trocadéro / Passy

The 19th and 20th arrondissements are more residential and community-focused than food-driven. These neighbourhoods are about parks, local life, and creative energy rather than destination dining, which is why my friend left them off her list except for one cool open-air bar!
