Looking for the best restaurants in Biarritz?
• From pintxos bars to Michelin-star dining, this guide covers where to eat in Biarritz for every taste.
• I hate wasting a meal on vacation at a mediocre spot, so every restaurant on this list is truly worth it!
• If you want to explore beyond these ten, there’s a custom Google Map at the bottom of this page.
• Tip: remember, siesta is commonplace in Biarritz so time your meals around it: AKA eat lunch before 2pm and dinner after 7pm.
• Bon Appétit! If you’re looking for more to do in Biarritz besides eating at the best restaurants, check out my Ultimate Biarritz Guide here.

1. Nelly’s 🍔
If you’re after the best smash burger — crispy, thin, double-patty perfection, Nelly’s delivers. The menu is short and sweet with three options: the Classic Cheeseburger with house pickles, raw onion, lettuce, ketchup, and mustard; the Bacon Cheeseburger with smoked bacon, caramelized onions, lettuce, and Nelly’s special sauce; or the Vegetarian with falafel, eggplant, and a creamy white cheese sauce. We went with the bacon cheeseburger (because who can resist caramelized onions?) and it was potentially the best smash burger I’ve ever had. Writing this is making me hungry… I wish I was back in Biarritz! Oh also – the crinkle fries with the spicy mayo dipping sauce were the perfect side. There’s barely any room to eat inside, so grab your order and enjoy it across the street in the little park.

• Reservations are not taken or needed
• Open everyday from noon to 10pm

2. Zou
A friend who lived in Biarritz for three years swore this was the best restaurant in Biarritz, so of course we had to check it out and WOW, we were not disappointed. This Mediterranean gem is everything you want in a meal out. We went all out, sharing the lamb, octopus with black risotto, and wild mushrooms, and yes, we totally splurged on dessert too— the lava cake and pistachio tiramisu were as incredible as they looked. The octopus with black risotto was our absolute favourite, a must-try if you go, though honestly every dish was spot on.

3. AHPĒ
AHPE is a Michelin-starred spot, and it totally lives up to the hype! The name comes from the first letters of each season, and their menus celebrate fresh, seasonal ingredients in the most creative ways. We opted for the 6-course tasting menu (€64, not bad at all! ) so we could experience a bit of everything without stressing over choices, but you can also go à la carte for a lower price point and more control. If you want to get even more thrifty, book for lunch for even cheaper prices. Every dish was a little masterpiece, and our summer-inspired selections were bursting with delicious flavour combinations. Honestly, it was an amazing multi-course Michelin star experience at a super reasonable price.
Practical Info:
• Reservations available by phone only
• Closed Sundays & Mondays

4. Saline Ceviche Bar 🐠
If you love fresh, flavourful seafood with a twist, Saline Ceviche Bar is a must-visit. By this point in our trip, we were getting a little tired of the heavy French food, so this was the perfect fresh and light meal to make our stomachs happy. Their Tuna Tataki with fried plantain chips is a standout—perfectly seared and bursting with umami. Equally impressive is the Ceviche Nikkei, featuring salmon marinated in lime and soy, complemented by mango, red fruit, onion, and avocado. Both dishes show off the restaurant’s creativity and quality. Whether you’re a ceviche fan or just curious to try something new, Saline is a delicious stop in Biarritz.

5. La Belloteka 🥩
I did a bunch of research on finding the best steak in Biarritz (because why pay a high price for a steak I can cook better at home?!) and landed on La Belloteka. We went for the Galician steak (which is a little pricier than their regular beef) and oh-my-god (Janice from Friends anyone? 😋) it was mouthwateringly good. It was a massive 1 kg portion so come hungry! Galician cattle are raised for 8-12 years, which makes the meat rich, flavourful, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The restaurant itself is cozy and casual, perfect for sitting back and enjoying a really memorable steak in Biarritz.

• Reservations available by phone or in person, walk ins accepted

6. Crêperie Sarrasin Biarritz
Hands down, our favourite crêpes of the entire France trip! These were a little different – buckwheat, super thin and satisfyingly crispy. You can fill them with any toppings you like, but I recommend starting with a savoury option (I loved the Robert: goat cheese, honey, dry-cured ham, sun-dried tomatoes, and walnuts) and saving a sweet crêpe for dessert. My partner was a fan of the Bernard. We even got chatting with the owner, and after hearing we’re Canadian, he shared that he plays hockey and told us all about the local Biarritz ice hockey scene (who knew hey?).
Practical Info:
• Reservations available online
• Closed on Sundays & Mondays
7. Les Contrebandiers
You are in Basque country so it is time to try the food of the region! For an authentic spot, Les Contrebandiers is the place to be in Biarritz. Pintxos (small artisanal bites/ appies) are THE Basque classic, so order a wide selection and as many as your stomach can handle! The menu offers tons of options, but my personal favourites were the grilled squid, sea bream carpaccio, beef tataki and the classic pimientos del piquillo. Enjoy a spot out on the patio in the sun (prime for people watching) or the cozier inside option. We walked in one evening and they had no space for walk ins, so make sure to plan ahead just in case!

8. Chéri Bibi
Chéri Bibi is a Michelin-starred spot that somehow manages to feel trendy, approachable and not too expensive 😅 at the same time. The dishes are creative and playful, with fresh local ingredients making each bite exciting. I absolutely loved the clams with white miso sabayon – so flavourful (I love umami!) and perfectly balanced. The menu changes often, so there’s always something new to try, but every dish we sampled looked incredible. Just ask the server for their recommendations and follow your heart! This is a very popular spot so make your reservation as far in advance as you can to get a spot!
Practical Info:
• Reservations available online and strongly recommended (the bar and terrace are saved for walk ins)
• Closed on Tuesdays & Wednesdays

10. Noisette Patisserie
This was our favourite café and patisserie in Biarritz, and clearly we’re not the only ones who think so. It’s a buzzing spot with locals and tourists alike. Fair warning: it’s on the pricier side, but hey, when in France. We came back several times during our stay and loved every single thing we tried, perfectly flaky croissants, indulgent tarts, and beautifully crafted desserts that taste just as good as they look. There was also this quirky savory pastry with chicken (check the photo beside) that we loved!
Practical Info:
• Reservations not taken or needed
• Open everyday from 8:30am to 6pm (perfect for when nothing else is open during siesta!)
9. Pepite Cookie
Okay less of a restaurant and more of a… well a cookie and gelato heaven and I think it deserves to be on the best restaurants in Biarritz list! Sorry – not sorry, I love sweets and I think you should too 😛. My partner’s sweet tooth is even bigger than mine, so we found ourselves back here several times during our week in Biarritz. The cookies are thick, more like small balls than flat cookies, which means you get an ooey-gooey, melty moist inside, with a crispy edge all around. For the ultimate indulgence, go for the cookie-and-ice-cream combo. Our favourites? The double chocolate cookie with cookie dough ice cream, and the dark chocolate chip cookie with double chocolate ice cream. Decadent, right?

• Reservations not taken or needed
• Open everyday
